A SCOTS pensioner who was Britain's oldest man for just 20 days was laid to rest to the sounds of his idol Engelbert Humperdinck.
Friends and family gathered for the funeral of Bob Taggart, who died at the age of 109.
Mourners gathered as the great-great grandfather's coffin was carried through the streets of his hometown of Rutherglen, Lanarkshire, on a horse-drawn carriage.
The OAP had become the country's eldest gent following the death of Great War veteran Harry Patch who was aged 111.
But holding the title for just 20 days, club singer Bob - who attributed his longevity to crooner Engelbert - passed away in his sleep at his care home in Rutherglen, Lanarkshire.
Tributes were paid to Bob as Englebert classics Unforgettable and There Goes My Everything were played during the service at the Co-op funeral Parlour in Rutherglen.
The Reverend Colin Ogilvie described Bob as a 'remarkable man'.
He added: "He was full of compassion and was a genuinely lovely man.
"He leaves behind a treasure trove of memories for his family to share."
Bob leaves behind five daughters, 19 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one three year old great-great granddaughter.
