Rap superstar Jay-Z shows his Celtic colours

THE WORLD'S richest rap star, hip-hop tycoon Jay-Z, has been revealed as a secret Celtic fan.

Jay-Z, real name Shawn Corey Carter, has been named the world's ninth most powerful  celebrity by influential rich-list magazine Forbes.

With £40 million earnings last year his wealth has made him an even more influential figure than Hollywood movie mogul Steven Speilberg.

Once romantically involved with sexy singing star Beyonce, he was recently rumoured to be buying a stake in English giants Arsenal.

The sports mad music multi-millionaire also owns a stake in US baseball side New Jersey Jets.

But when the singing star recently met up with Scots rockers Mogwai he stunned the band by declaring his love for the Hoops.

A band insider said: "The band met Jay-Z when they saw him at a gig.

"He surprised them with his knowledge of football and he knew all about Celtic.

"The boys are also big fans of the Hoops so they were glad to add another huge name to the list of celebrity Celtic fans.

"And Jay-z told them he knew all about the history of Celtic and who played for them."

The rappers massive wealth meant he easily beat rival rappers 50 cent and P Diddy on the Forbes top 100 celebrity list.

He recently sold his Rocawear clothing label to a rival company for an estimated £100 million.

Jay-z joins an impressive list of celebrity superstars who've declared their love of the Hoops.

Scots Rocker Rod Stewart has never hidden his admiration of the Parkhead club and wears Celtic colours on stage.

Simple Minds frontman Jim Kerr and comedy legend Billy Connolly also support the club.

Hit Hollywood movie director Michael Caton Jones and 300 star Gerard Butler are also big Hoops fans.

Forbes top 100 most powerful celebrities also included former England captain David Beckham who came 15th on the list.

American chat-show Queen Oprah Winfrey came top of the poll with estimated annual earnings of £130 million.
