ONE of Scotland's busiest maternity units has been celebrating a baby boom - among its STAFF.
Three midwives and a doctor from Wishaw General Hospital gave birth to bouncing baby boys on the same day.
And their efforts were matched a week later when a further two midwives gave birth to girls.
On September 9, Pamela Curran gave birth to Luke, who weighed 9lb 15oz, Kirsty McGowan had baby Aaron weighing 8lb 13oz and Cheryl Clark, 31, had son Lewis who weighed 6lb 10z.
The three midwives all gave birth on the same ward they work in while their colleague Dr Kara Sewnauth gave birth to baby Matthew in Glasgow on the same day.
And their overjoyed colleagues Kirsteen Hyslop and Debbie Mycek gave birth the week after to girls at Wishaw.
Kirsty, 26, from Allanton, told how she give birth to baby Aaron as pal Pamela was in labour in the next room.
She said: "It was a great experience being pregnant at the same time as all the girls.
"Pamela and I ended up coming in to give birth at the same time. When I was in labour the two of us were put in rooms right next to each other.
"All the way through I kept on thinking I wonder if Pamela could hear me through the wall."
Dr Sewnauth, 32, from Glasgow, said: "It's so unusual, I've never heard anything like it before in my life."
