A CELTIC fan is selling his worldly belongings - including his pet parrot - to travel the world in memory of his son who died of a massive asthma attack.
Jim Gallagher, 54, plans to crisscross the globe with his daughter Karen, 27, to fulfil an ambition he and his son had shared.
The plumber's 31-year-old son Mark died on boxing day last year after suffering an asthma attack in his sleep.
The death of his son came as a double blow as Jim had lost his mother just six months earlier.
Hoops supporter Jim is now selling his three-bedroom bungalow in Airdrie, Lanarkshire, to fund the trip.
It was in Seville for the Uefa Cup Final that Jim and Mark had the idea of selling up to go travelling.
They joked that Jim should sell his pet parrot, Chev, for thousands of pounds and give the house away for free.
Now Jim - a season ticket holder at Parkhead - has put his bungalow on the market for offers over £179,000, while kidding buyers that the price is for the parrot with the house included for free.
As soon as Jim finds a buyer he and daughter Karen are going to pack their bags and hit the road.
He said: "It will break my heart to leave the house because this has been the family home for 18 years.
"I've got some great memories but also some sad ones, and after losing my son and my mother I just feel it's time to move on.
"My son was my best pal in the world and we often talked to going travelling so I'm now going to do it in his memory.
"It's hard to explain just how close me and my son were. We were best pals and would do everything together.
"It's been really hard for me since he died and I've only recently been able to talk about him. I still can't go into the pub we used to drink in.
"I think this will give us the fresh start we need. We're looking to start off in France and head towards the Pyrenees.
"We've been looking at loads of different countries like Turkey, Spain and the USA.
"We haven't made up our minds where we're going to settle yet, if we come across anywhere we like we'll maybe rent a place there for a year or so."
Jim renewed both his and Mark's season tickets this year but has been so grief stricken that he has only attended one match.
But last night he said he would not be including them in his sell off as they were too precious.
But Jim is hoping that whoever buys his house will keep his feathered friend Chev.
He added: "What I'm going to do is ask potential buyers if they like parrots and if so, they can keep him.
"But if nobody will take him I've got a few people who will give him a good home."
Jim's military macaw Chev, named after movie star Chevy Chase, shot to fame four years ago when he escaped from his home and made his way to a local hospital.
The bird then clawed on to a scientist's shoulder refusing to budge, forcing worried staff at Monklands Hospital to phone the police.
Luckily Chev was soon captured in a cardboard box allowing Jim and his feathered friend to be reunited.
