Not a Lotto

Bargain basement

THE FORMER mansion home of Lotto loser John McGuinness has been put up for sale - for £150,000 less than he paid for it.

Skint McGuinness moved out of the six-bedroomed Old School house with his family last month after losing a repossession battle with his bank.

The former hospital porter was left owing the Royal Bank of Scotland £2.1 million after blowing his £10 million fortune on luxury cars, holidays and a string of failed high profile investments.

McGuinness moved from the house in Larkhall, Lanarkshire, to a £325,000 four-bedroomed villa in nearby Carluke last month.

Now the chance to live like a former multi millionaire has been offered to anyone who has the cash to bid for the home which is on sale at offers over £599,000.

The house boasts a large family room, small dressing room, spacious cinema room, hot tub and steam room, as well as a huge master bedroom and five double bedrooms.

Estate agents Re-Max are selling the property.

Re-max agent Margo Wilson said:  "This property offers generous proportioned accommodation over two levels.

"The lower level comprises of a naturally bright and welcoming reception hallway, formal lounge, extremely spacious, modern and stylish fitted kitchen with spiral staircase to playroom.

McGuinness had previously been spotted dismantling a massive children's slide in his back garden as he prepared to move his family.

His new home sits in a leafy cul de sac in Carluke.

Speaking at the time McGuinness said: "This is a fresh start for me and my family.

"We have had our problems in the past but Sandra and I are delighted to be starting again in our new home."

McGuinness became Scotland's biggest ever lottery winner in 1996 when he scooped his mammoth £10 million prize.

He had just split from his first wife Hazel and was sleeping on the floor of his parents' council house in Shotts, Lanarkshire.

But he splashed the cash on top of the range cars, expensive holidays and several failed investments during a ten year spending spree.

He is said to be looking for a full time job while his wife Sandra, a former nurse, is set to enrol on a hairdressing course.
