A TEENAGER has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of an electrician.
Murray Gracie, 18, is alleged to have discharged a firearm at dad-of-one Mark Laird, 28, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Mr Laird is believed to have been shot at the home he shares with his fiancée Emma Donnelly and their baby daughter Lacey in Carluke, Lanarkshire.
Gracie, of Carluke, appeared in private at Lanark Sheriff Court where he faced a total of nine charges all relating to alleged incidents on January 8.
Other charges faced by Gracie include the culpable and reckless discharge of a firearm at Glenafeoch Road in Carluke, as well as being in possession of a sawn-off shotgun and failing to have a certificate for the weapon at various locations.
He is also accused of possessing of two imitation handguns, a crossbow and three machetes at the Palace Grounds Retail Park in nearby Hamilton on the same day. Gracie, faces a further two charges for assault and dangerous driving.
He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody. He is expected to appear again at court next week.
On Sunday Mark, who runs his own business in Carluke, was rushed by ambulance to Wishaw General Hospital where it is believed he underwent surgery.
His condition was described as stable.
